Television guide Italy
Rai International not broadcast the same programme schedule for all the countries for two reasons. First of all the areas covered by our signal are so numerous, vast and far apart that they cover many time zones: if there were only one programme schedule, it would have to be broadcast several times during the day so that the most popular programmes would coincide with the times suitable for viewers in the different countries.
Also, for some areas we do not have the broadcasting rights for all the programmes, while we know by experience that certain titles or television genres do not have the same success with all audiences. We therefore decided to propose different programme schedules, with the aim of offering the best of what we can broadcast to each area at the most suitable times for that particular audience.

Why are some programmes repeated? Repeats are a feature in the proposals of all international broadcasting companies, put together in identical blocks which are repeated to keep up with the different time zones. In our case they respond to the need to organise the entire TV offer in two programme schedules intended for audiences separated by enormous differences in time. For Rai International 1, which reaches Latin America and Oceania, the most popular programmes, proposed in the early evening to both audiences, are broadcast first to Australia, while it is still night in Latin America, and then vice versa. |
